YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes your approach different from a traditional dermatologist or primary care provider?

A traditional dermatologist is trained to identify and treat skin conditions—and they do that well.

However, most dermatology training focuses on treating what appears on the surface rather than investigating why it developed in the first place.

For many patients, traditional treatments work well. But for others, symptoms continue to return:

  • Acne improves but never completely clears.
  • Hair loss returns after treatment stops.
  • Rosacea triggers become more frequent.
  • Skin conditions improve temporarily but never truly resolve.

These situations may point to underlying factors that haven’t yet been identified.

Primary care providers help fill part of this gap but often don’t have the time or specialty focus to fully connect skin symptoms with hormonal, metabolic, thyroid, nutritional, or gut health factors.

At Nexus Derm, we look at your hair and skin concerns as part of a bigger picture—not in isolation.

Depending on your individual needs, your evaluation may include:

  • Comprehensive hormone testing
  • Metabolic evaluation, including fasting insulin and HOMA-IR
  • Thyroid testing, including Free T3
  • Ferritin evaluation
  • Gut health testing such as GI-MAP or SIBO testing when clinically appropriate

Rather than simply treating what is visible, your care plan is built around understanding what may be contributing to your symptoms.

What should I expect during my complimentary consultation?

Before your consultation

Before your appointment, you’ll complete a short questionnaire about your primary concern, how long you’ve been experiencing symptoms, previous treatments you’ve tried, and providers you’ve already seen.

This allows the consultation to focus on your specific situation rather than gathering basic information.

During your consultation

You’ll speak directly with Dr. Ket. She’ll ask questions about your symptoms, health history, previous treatments, hormonal changes, gut health, metabolic concerns, and goals.

What this consultation is not

Not a sales presentation
Not a pressure call
Not an upsell

If Dr. Ket doesn’t believe Nexus Derm is the right fit for your needs, she’ll let you know and, when possible, point you toward someone who may be able to help.

By the end of your consultation, you’ll have a better understanding of:

  • Whether Nexus Derm may be a good fit for your concerns
  • What your first appointment would include
  • What realistic expectations and timelines may look like

Who is the ideal candidate for the Metabolic Reset Program?

The Metabolic Reset Program is designed for individuals who have been making an effort to improve their health but still aren’t seeing the changes they expect.

You may be an ideal candidate if you:

  • Eat well and exercise consistently but still struggle to lose weight.
  • Feel your metabolism has changed, especially during your 40s, 50s, or 60s.
  • Have been told your labs are “normal” but still don’t feel like yourself.
  • Experience fatigue, stubborn weight gain, or symptoms that don’t seem to have answers.
  • Are interested in understanding the biological reasons behind your symptoms.
  • Are currently taking—or considering—a GLP-1 medication and want comprehensive medical guidance alongside it.

Rather than offering quick fixes, the program focuses on identifying what’s preventing your body from responding the way it should.

How do I qualify for complimentary THINNR App access?

THINNR is a digital tracking and support tool used as part of the Nexus Derm care experience. When appropriate, it can help patients track information that supports ongoing follow-up and care.

Patients may qualify for complimentary THINNR App access by:

    • Completing the Nexus Derm questionnaire
    • Completing the onboarding process
    • Actively participating in the first week of tracking
    • Completing the scheduled follow-up review

What are the most common reasons patients come to Nexus Derm?

Many patients come to us after feeling frustrated by unanswered questions.

Common concerns include:

  • Hair loss
  • Acne
  • Rosacea
  • Hormonal changes
  • Weight changes
  • Fatigue
  • Gut health concerns
  • Feeling unwell despite “normal” lab results

Often, patients tell us they’ve seen multiple providers but still don’t have clear answers.

Is there anything I should know before booking?

Every patient receives an individualized evaluation.

Your treatment plan is based on:

  • Your personal health history
  • Your symptoms
  • Your laboratory results, when applicable
  • Your goals

There are no standardized protocols or one-size-fits-all treatment plans.

If I don’t live in Florida, how does lab testing work?

Nexus Derm partners with Fullscript to coordinate laboratory testing.

Dr. Ket also provides telehealth care in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. If you’re located in one of these states, laboratory testing can be coordinated based on your individual care plan and available options in your area.

If testing is recommended:

  1. You’ll receive a personalized lab plan.
  2. You’ll complete your laboratory testing at the designated facility.
  3. Dr. Ket will review your results as part of your personalized treatment plan.

Laboratory fees and specimen collection fees may apply depending on the tests ordered.

Where are labs completed?

Lab work is completed through the laboratory specified in your personalized Fullscript lab plan.

Depending on your testing needs, this may include:

  • Standard laboratory facilities
  • Specialty laboratories
  • Advanced diagnostic testing centers

Detailed instructions will be provided after your consultation.

How are prescriptions and supplements provided for virtual patients?

If medication is recommended, prescriptions are sent to a pharmacy based on your location and applicable prescribing regulations.

Supplement recommendations are provided through Fullscript, allowing you to:

  • View your personalized supplement plan
  • Order products online
  • Have supplements shipped directly to your home

All recommendations are tailored to your individual needs.

Do you offer specialty testing?

Yes. When clinically appropriate, Dr. Ket may recommend advanced testing to help better understand factors that may be contributing to your symptoms.

Depending on your individual needs, testing may include:

  • GI-MAP
  • DUTCH Hormone Testing
  • SIBO Testing
  • Organic Acids Testing
  • Food Sensitivity Testing
  • Food Allergy Testing
  • TrichoTest
  • Additional nutritional and metabolic testing

Testing recommendations are based on your symptoms, medical history, and goals. Not every patient will need advanced testing.
